older and wiser?

you know the old saying, "with age, comes wisdom." i guess this holds true in some senses, but then again i can't help but SLIGHTLY disagree.

it would be foolish to try and disregard this saying as completely untrue, because in some cases, age does come with wisdom. it's something that most of the younger generation wish to forget despite its occasional truth. and i am in no sense trying to undermine the older generation and regard them as being closed-minded or stubborn, so don't get me wrong here. but what i'm trying to say is that the older generation can be a little bit unaware that times have changed, society has progressed (or digressed whichever way you choose to look at it), and the ancient customs are almost completely undone. i feel like the "aged" have a tendency to apply older models of societal living to the standard conditions today, and most of us just sit back and say, "what..?"

it's hard for us to understand where they're coming from, why they say the things they say, and how such things could ever be applied and taken as true - but we have to realize that it's because they come from a different time, perhaps not SO far into the past as i'm making this sound, but they think differently because of the rapid changes that have occurred.

so yes, it's true, with age does come wisdom. but i think it's important for us to realize and distinguish the lines between how much we are willing to compromise.
