the next four years

it's that time of year when seniors are scrambling to book flights out to visit colleges and rampantly surfing the web to research schools. thinking back to the end of junior year and the hectic, brain-frying period between september and november when seniors were applying to college, i never thought that the time would come where i would have to decide where to spend the next four years of my life.

i decided on UCLA Arts because God has given me an incredible opportunity to grow and learn so much more about something that i love to do. i realize that after all of the painting, drawing, portfolio making, and computer work that God was totally behind every move that i made. it's kind of intimidating to think that this decision in which college to attend will affect the next four years but at the same time, it's incredibly exciting! we'll be able to step into another world full of new and interesting people, opportunities to get involved on the school campus, and experiencing hundreds of different cultures mingling. it's the time to become more independent and exposed. there is so much more for us to experience out there, we won't even know what hit us, and that's the part that gets me so riled up. of course, there's always that fear that, what if i don't have any friends? what if it's hard for me to settle down? but the fear will surely turn into anticipation for what's to come.

some of my friends have made decisions on where to go to college, none of whom have chosen UCLA yet. i've realized that most of us will be scattered throughout the US, some in california, texas, new york, boston, and even tennessee. it's sad to think that the people that i've grown to love and appreciate won't be in such close proximity but the exciting thing about that is come christmas and spring break, we'll return home and start right back where we left off. i know that i still have so much to learn, but i'm excited to see what life throws at me in the next four years!
