"it's personal"

i wanted to elaborate on another new discovery, perhaps not so new, but relatively fresh in the system. i questioned the motivations i had for sharing certain things about my personal life with other people, close friends in particular. my compulsion to share events surrounding my life became such a habitual thing that at the moment of any sort of new event or happening, i'd open my mouth and send away the words within 20 seconds. recently, i was able to think about this "unfavorable" habit and i realized that i had become so dependent on my friends to help me solve my problems that i was unable to solve them myself. the necessity to keep certain 'personal' things actually 'personal' in your life is something that is very great - without the ability to problem solve on your own, there is no way you can grow. i even found that because i had become so dependent on other people, i was losing my sense of identity - i began to think of ways to solve problems based on how 'so and so' would solve the problem, not me. i could not grasp the realm in which my personal opinions and thoughts existed. not only had i lost a sense of identity, but i lost the sense of urgency to depend on God. i thought, if a human could help me solve my problem, there's no need to ask God for help. and that is exactly what started to happen - even if it was a subconscious decline in dependence, it was a decline nonetheless. they call it a 'personal life' for a reason; let's keep it that way.
